
To rescue, rehabilitate, temporarily house and/or re-home pet exotic birds and parrots and/or wild parrots that have been abandoned, lost, injured or are at risk of neglect or mistreatment.
To raise funds to support our rescue operation and other non-profit organizations whose purposes are to enhance the science of aviculture with respect to medical and behavioral research and studies.
To educate the public and the membership to ensure the proper care, treatment, and preservation of exotic pet birds, and, to ensure the preservation of exotic birds in the wild.
To keep informed of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations pertaining to the keeping of exotic birds.
To exchange knowledge, information, and experiences regarding care, diet, disease, and behavior relative to exotic birds.
The FWCAS invites you to join us at one of our monthly meetings where we exchange information and experiences in a casual, friendly atmosphere. Meetings are held the second Thursday of every month, at 7 p.m., at The Sahib Shrine Temple, 600 N. Beneva Road, Sarasota, FL 34232.
Meetings consist of a brief business report and general information followed by a guest speaker or program covering a variety of avian topics, member participation and raffles.
Club activities include participation in area educational avian programs and projects, sponsoring of annual exotic bird fair, parrot symposium, holiday party as well as other informal events. A monthly newsletter reporting club news, upcoming events and more is included with your membership.
